[song] Nadine Khouri – Vertigo

With her new LP Another Life arriving on November 18 via Tailtres, Beirut-born now London-based singer-songwriter Nadine Khouri is giving us the first taster of what to expect — a gentle and beautiful new single “Vertigo”.

It arrives in tandem with a marvelous music video directed by XX, and with the exciting news that the album was recorded in London and Bristol with longtime collaborator, John Paris (Aldous Harding, Dry Cleaning, PJ Harvey).

Elaborating on the track, Nadine says: “2020 was a period of unrest around the world. The song “Vertigo” came to me not long after the demonstrations following the catastrophic explosion on August 4th in Beirut, Lebanon. I was writing in isolation with a drum machine and producer, John Parish helped me refine the groove-based sound. The song alludes to some of the despair and rage felt around this time, but also the leap of faith needed to keep going”.
