[video] Francis Lung – Midland Hotel II – The Restaurant

Mancunian singer-songwriter Francis Lung is sharing his brand new single “Midland Hotel II – The Restaurant”, which serves as an opener of his forthcoming EP Short Stories.

An exciting new release, on which he played all of the instruments himself, shows a new and a bit more experimental side of Francis’s music. It finds him implementing the spoken-word approach to tell the listeners some authentic stories about a range of different and interesting characters.

The new single is a part of a trilogy of songs set in and around the Manchester-based establishment with the Midland Hotel tracks forming the backbone of Short Stories. It arrives in tandem with a music video, created by Francis himself.

[song] Francis Lung – Internet

Fresh off releasing his new album Miracle this June, indie pop mastermind Francis Lung returns today with a lovely new single, “Internet”. It is described by the artist as a song that tackles the addictiveness of technology and how it can be all-consuming.

[album] Francis Lung – Miracle

The third record from Tom McClung aka Francis Lung finds the musician at his most playful, personal and accomplished. There’s no fillers here — every song is just perfect.

The release has a beautiful sound with laconic piano inserts and chirping vocals; in places it recalls the pioneers of guitar pop music, like The Beatles and The Beach Boys and in places it gravitates towards contemporaries, such as William Doyle and Matt Maltese.

Melancholic and deeply personal all the way through, it will make a heart-wrenching soundtrack for the hot summer nights this year.

We have already heard a couple of songs from it — “Bad Hair Day” and “Lonesome No More”, and now he shares a third single, “The Let Down”.

It comes together with the hilarious music video, written, directed and edited by Francis himself. In it he plays a 40 years older version of himself and is looking back on the making of the new single in the episode of Historic Singles, which is his tongue-in-cheek take on the rockumentary series, Classic Albums.
