Anglo-Parisian quartet Sourface returns with the single “Lizard King”, a hard-hitting neo-psychedelic post-punk number that is both trippy and super groovy. It is out with the announcement of their debut LP titled The Eternal Summer (out March 22), which was recorded at the band’s self-made Babylon Studio in Paris during last year’s heatwave.
The second part of the group’s forthcoming album (which promises to be something truly special), this song established The Eternal Summer‘s main antagonist — Toni Bossi AKA ‘The Lizard King’. The group’s evil-mastermind manager has built a machine to harness the power of the sun (explored on the previous single “Solaire”), using it to control the surrounding population. The band explains it further:
“The Lizard King is a god gone mad. Toni Bossi has realised the infinitely unhinged potential of the sun’s energy and is ready to use it for his mad exploits. ‘Lizard King’ celebrates Bossi’s ego through a satire of corporate greed and arrogance. It’s a warning of the consequences of letting greed fester into power”.
