[song] Wine Pride – 12:01 A.M.

Before releasing their forthcoming EP Lost Years, North Carolina-based band Wine Pride unveiled “12:01 A.M.” as a preview, a dreamy and hazy number that gets stuck in your head immediately.

It is out now through the Brighton-based independent label Crafting Room Recordings (home to ELLiS·D, SoftTop, Hualun). The track’s unsettled atmosphere originates from addressing an unhealthy way of living, as Aaron Felger from the band explains:

“The person telling the story is struggling to understand whether their desire to party is fueled by their lust for life, or addiction. The outro, “life like, a dream you live” represents both celebrating your life, feeling like you’re living a dream and a washed up, sense of denial about your clouded reality. 12:01 AM symbolises the first minute of the new day and all the possibilities for change that come with it. You could be embracing it as you’re enjoying time with your friends or dreading what comes next”.

After completing a series of seven UK performances for Independent Venue Week, Brighton solo artist ELLiS·D (real name Ellis Dickson) shares spooky new stomper “Humdrum”, out now via Crafting Room Recordings.

The track is an instant earworm and stands out as a beacon of the artist’s ability to blend dark, atmospheric instrumentation with introspective lyrics, creating a sound that is both haunting and deeply resonant. In just three and a half minutes it delivers a frenetic, tension-filled surge of new wave rock that is forceful and truly incessant.

Brighton’s SoftTop share the euphoric indie-ballad “Runaway”, out today through Crafting Room Recordings. Creatively spearheaded by keyboardist/vocalist Miles Goodall, and featuring musicians/producers of such Brighton acts as Hutch, Ideal Living and TINMAN, the seven-piece ensemble goes truly big and impressive on this track.

As we await the release of their as-yet-unreleased wider project, this single serves as a tantalizing preview of what’s to come. The production on it is impeccable, showcasing the band’s meticulous attention to detail and their willingness to experiment with new sounds and techniques. The mix balances the lush orchestration with moments of stark simplicity, allowing the song’s emotional core to shine through.

To support the single’s release, SoftTop will perform a special headline show at Brighton’s Folklore Rooms today (with support from Martha Eve and Etienne) — tickets are available here.
