Glasgow septet The Joy Hotel announced their debut album Ceremony, which will be out July 18 via SO Recordings.
Along with the news they are sharing a new single/music video “Jeremiah”, the powerful and exhilarating piece that delves into the concept of confronting uncertainties, exploring how contrasting mindsets provoke varied reactions to identical circumstances — a powerful, richly textured psychedelic pop song about encountering death and how to deal with it.
Its captivating sound and thematic depth leave us eagerly awaiting the full musical journey that the record promises to deliver.
of Montreal, the beloved indie pop project led by Kevin Barnes, known for their eccentricity and boundless creativity, have shared a new song/video “Rude Girl on Rotation”.
It is a beautiful folk-inspired gem infused with the band’s signature sonic flair, and it serves as the second taster (after “Yung Hearts Bleed Free”) of Lady On The Cusp, the group’s upcoming new LP (set for release on May 17 via Polyvinyl Record Co). Accompanied by an official music video, it is a tantalizing glimpse of the musical brilliance that lies ahead.
Barnes shares the following about the single: “Rude Girl On Rotation was inspired, in part, by my impending move from Athens GA to our new home in Vermont. I used an open tuning on guitar that Nick Drake used a lot on his jammers. The bass line chugs along in a late 60’s West Coast rocker style, influenced by Canned Heat’s “Poor Moon”. I wanted the song to sound loose and under-produced. It took the least amount of time to record, of all the songs on the album. I hope you like it!”.
With his debut EP Fifteen Minutes With Spielmann arriving May 31 through EMI North/Launchpad+ (Nadine Shah, Bored At My Grandmas House, Van Houten), Leeds luminary Spielmann has unveiled another new single from it, titled “Just Like Everybody Else”.
The song is another brilliant slice of anthemic pop, characterized by catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics. This time Spielmann takes a subtle shift towards more earnest introspection, as he explores the delicate balance between artistic expression and navigating life’s everyday challenges.
The artist is also releasing an EP in a quite unique way — on the side of a coffee bag. Collaborating with the North Star Coffee Roasters based in Leeds, Fifteen Minutes With Spielmann can be accessed via a download code found on the coffee bag.
This song, part of the band’s upcoming EP Liminal Space (set to release on May 10 via Hound Gawd! Records), captivates with its furious guitar energy and Bobby Spender’s raw and aggressive vocal delivery, making it a feral stomper that embodies a relentless barrage of sonic intensity.
