Today London art pop trio Mylar announced a new EP titled Lost In Shuffle, which will be out on April 16. This communiqué sees the band returning in top form despite personal upheavals and line-up changes, judging by the new number “Scribbled Sunset”.

The song is a true gem with its synth-funk grooves, and it is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who hear it, transcending genres and touching hearts along the way. Speaking about it, vocalist Tom Short shared the following:

“This song came together from us trying to use a sound which is essentially the slap bass sound from the Seinfeld intro music. It’s quite upfront and direct and it looks at that moment in a relationship where you’re questioning whether someone is that interested anymore. And that image of a ‘scribbled sunset’ is talking about the need many of us have to paint over things even when they’re clearly not working”.

[song] Omni – INTL Waters

On February 16, the Atlanta trio Omni will release Souvenir, their highly-anticipated new album for Sub Pop.

We have heard two brilliant songs out of it already and now the band continues their hot streak of singles with the new offering — gentle and catchy “INTL Waters”. The song is a slightly left turn for the band, sounding more mellow and adventurous in comparison to the precise guitar riffs, tight rhythms, and deadpan vocals that they are known for.

If you are searching for an indie rock anthem to soundtrack your upcoming months, look no further. “Nothing Matters to Me Now” from CHUCK (the project of Charles Griffin Gibson, an award-winning East Coast-raised American filmmaker living and working in Oslo) is the song for you — a fun and manic number that gets stuck in your head immediately.

Best played very loud, this single is a chaotic journey into the eclectic mind of a talented songwriter, and the lo-fi aesthetic adds a raw and authentic quality, enhancing the emotional impact of the composition. Brilliant stuff!

[song] Maximilian – Red Wine

Ahead of several live shows planned, Brighton singer/songwriter Maximilian shares “Red Wine”, a powerful and introspective new single out today via Mango Wax Records.

The track stands out for its exceptional guitar work, poetic lyrics, and blissful musical atmosphere that reflects the artist’s impressive songwriting ability. The song’s structure allows for a gradual build-up, with each element carefully introduced to create a sense of progression, reaching a striking crescendo in the end. Lyrically, “Red Wine” touches on the topic of first love, as described by Maximilian himself:

“I wrote this song very quickly, about four years ago. It’s about a fleeting relationship that sparks, crashes and burns. The long-lasting return of first love. Self-destructive but beautiful”.

[song] Grandaddy – Long as I’m Not the One

Cult indie rock band Grandaddy, who will have their much-anticipated new record Blu Wav out very soon (February 16 via Dangerbird Records), shared a final preview of it titled “Long as I’m Not the One”.

This heartbreak ballad is a true standout piece that exemplifies Grandaddy’s distinctive mixture of indie rock, lo-fi aesthetics, and introspective lyricism. It is a compelling exploration of the human condition in the digital age and frontman Jason Lytle said the following regarding the song’s meaning:

“While the lyrics arrived early and remained mostly unchanged, I ended up recording two or three other versions of this song and just couldn’t get it right. Too folky and/or too country was the culprit. Luckily, I hung in there and settled on this rendition. Just enough shine and dirt. Just enough modern and vintage. I’m still confused as to what it is, but that’s pretty normal for me”.
