[album] Deeper – Careful!

Deeper have returned with the new LP Careful! (first one for Sub Pop Records), which is full of their signature energetic and guitar-driven sound. But this time around Chicago-based four-piece pushed it to the limit, having created their best set of songs so far.

The formula is quite similar to what we heard before from this group, yet there are plenty of experiments, with the tracks sometimes going to unexpected places (for example, check out “Fame”).

Obviously, there have been plenty of post-punk recently, but if you’re looking for a fresh take on the genre, give this album a spin — you won’t be disappointed. Deeper are dead serious about their craft.

Already having released tracks “Sub” and “Build a Bridge”, Deeper share a new single “Tele”, all taken from their upcoming album Careful! which will be out September 8 on Sub Pop.

More melodic than their previous songs, the new one sees the group replacing guitars with synthesizers and drums with samplers. Musicians actively progress with each release and demonstrate their talent and ability to create a sonic experience that resonates deeply (excuse the pun) with listeners. The song is paired with surreal visuals, directed and edited by Cameron Lowe.

Deeper also announced headline and festival dates in support of the upcoming LP, with North American shows from September 21 till October 22, and European/UK shows from October 31 till November 14.

[video] Deeper – Helena’s Flowers

Deeper released their excellent sophomore LP Auto-Pain earlier this year via Fire Talk, and now they are sharing a new video for the album’s standout, “Helena’s Flowers”. In it the band underlines the acute problem of how capitalism is destroying our planet on the example of the Native American folklore.
