On May 13, M(h)aol will release their new album Something Soft, which will be out on Merge Records.

We’ve already heard three brilliant songs from it, and now the band continues their hot streak of singles with another new offering — “I Miss My Dog”. Clocking in under three minutes, it’s a short, raw, and gnarly slab of noise rock, soaked in distortion and industrial grime.

The track is released alongside a lovely, band-made video featuring crowd-sourced clips of fans’ pets. It is a touching homage to the dogs we’ve cherished, both those we’ve lost and those still by our side.

[song] The Clientele – Claire’s Not Real

Having teased us already with the singles “Blue Over Blue” and “Dying in May”, London group The Clientele unleash another great cut, a melodic “Claire’s Not Real”. It is taken from their upcoming new album I Am Not There Anymore, which will be out July 28 via the consistently excellent Merge Records.

On the new song, The Clientele goes into some unknown territories and incorporates elements of post-bop jazz, contemporary classical and electronic music. The result is fresh and very exciting. It shows the ability of a legendary band to create a captivating and emotionally resonant musical experience with some new elements thrown on the table.

Today, London group The Clientele announces their new album titled I Am Not There Anymore, which will be out July 28 via the consistently excellent Merge Records.

To celebrate the news they are also sharing a great lead single “Blue Over Blue”. It is a playful guitar pop song, built around an incredibly catchy chorus with additions of horns and strings.

Lyrically, the track is about vocalist/lyricist/guitarist Alasdair MacLean’s scary adventure of being lost in the woods with his son. He explains: “‘Blue Over Blue’ is about getting lost in the woods on Hampstead Heath on an autumn day with my two-year-old son on my shoulders – he loved it and wanted to play hide and seek. I knew he was a ticking time bomb as I had no food with me and was trying to find my way back to a path”.

The single is out with a cool and slightly surrealistic music video, in which the group performs adorned in armour beneath beautiful and abstract artwork.
