[song] Sløtface – Final Gørl

Sløtface’s Haley Shea turns traditional feminine stereotypes upside down on the latest track, energetic and catchy indie rock stomper “Final Gørl”.

This song marks the band’s first collaboration with Preben Sælid Andersen behind the production, and it is delving into the horror movie cliché it’s named after, featured in films like Scream and Halloween. This genre is something Shea deeply connects with, stating:

“In these movies the final girl is pure and virginal and better than all the other more overtly sexual women in the movie, which is why she survives. I wanted to flip the script on that, so the “I” character in Final Girl is saying no to all those rules about who she has to be. In the song I’m singing a lot of lines to the killer in a horror movie, very aware of what genre I’m in, and saying “no thanks, I don’t really want to be a part of these expectations”. To me it symbolizes that women are often expected to try so hard to be liked and be everything to everyone, and in this song I’m embracing that we as women can also be lazy losers”.

[song] Sløtface – Nose

Now led by the group’s figurehead Haley Shea (ex-members Lasse Lokøy and Tor-Arne Vikingstad left the band earlier to focus on new passions outside the group), Sløtface return with another smasher “Nose”.

She now describes the project as a creative collective working with different musicians, songwriters and producers to explore what Sløtface can sound like. A truly exciting and intriguing prospect for fans of the band!

The song is released alongside the announcement of the new EP Awake / Asleep, scheduled for release on February 24 through Propeller Recordings. It would also include the previously aired singles “Come Hell or Whatever”, “Beta” and “HAPPY”.
