Leeds’ Treeboy & Arc released their debut album Natural Habitat last week via Clue Records/EMI North. Long time in the making, it absolutely delivers and will satisfy all the existing fans and will welcome many new ones.

Five-piece group put out their most ambitious collection of songs with dark and atmospheric post-punk soundscapes, gritty guitar riffs, and introspective lyrics. Every track is special in its own way as all of them have their own meaning and story, providing a captivating and evocative exploration of the human experience.

Natural Habitat invites listeners to think and reflect on the world we live in, question societal norms, and embrace the power of music as a catalyst for change.

Things are bleak in general all factors considered and who knows if they will ever get better. It feels like Leeds’ Treeboy & Arc understand this sentiment very well and drop on us their darkest-sounding track to date, a brooding and nervy “Behind The Curtain” (it follows the earlier released “Retirement” and “False Objects” from the upcoming LP Natural Habitat).

For the gloomy song about the inevitability of death that we all will face at some point, it also carries some odd sense of calmness and the feeling of acceptance. This fact does not make it any less sinister though, with the group spicing up their post-punk sensibilities to the maximum extent.

Creative and very talented, Leeds’ Treeboy & Arc have been building suspense during all these last years and finally, they are ready to release their artistic statement in form of a debut record. Announced last month, Natural Habitat is expected to land on July 7 via EMI North-partnered Clue Records.

Five-piece already teased us with “Retirement”, and now we are getting another song, “False Objects”. It is different, slower in tempo, instrumentally acute and with an atmosphere of controlled chaos — like the group is performing unemotionally with a big fire around them. Vocals shine through here, with guitarist and vocalist Ben Morgan actually singing instead of his usual cold spoken word delivery.

The single is accompanied by an animated music video (created by George Chadwick) and was produced by Matt Peel (TRAAMS, W.H. LUNG, Eagulls, Pulled Apart By Horses, Heck) at his studio The Nave in Leeds.

Set for release on July 7 via EMI North partnered Clue Records, Leeds’ Treeboy & Arc have announced their debut album titled Natural Habitat. The first single out of it is “Retirement” — a fast-paced, dynamic song that showcases the band’s distinctive blend of post-punk and art-rock influences.

The track is out with a fun music video directed by Nicholas Sayers. In it the group is performing in the absolute smallest pub they could find in Leeds, with some retired folk around, completely unaware of the racket surrounding them. Instead, people just focus on enjoying their usual day-to-day hobbies.
