Ahead of the release of their debut self-titled album later this Summer on ANTI-, Art Moore share the latest single from it, “A Different Life”. It follows the previously unleashed songs “Muscle Memory” and “Snowy”.
A trio, composed of Boy Scouts’ Taylor Vick and Ezra Furman collaborators and bandmates Sam Duerkes and Trevor Brook, masterfully create a gentle, enveloping sound that works really well with its haunting melodies.
Having teased us already with the single “Get On Yer Soapbox”, Mush unleash another stunning cut, “Northern Safari”. It is taken from their upcoming album Down Tools, set for release on July 8 via Memphis Industries.
Talking about the single, Dan Hyndman of the band says: “It’s about the time we all went to the tropical world together to see the meerkats. Down Tools out soon, thanks for all your support so far!”.
Sinead O’Brien is releasing her debut LP Time Bend and Break The Bower on June 10 via Chess Club Records, and now she is giving us the latest taster of what to expect — shapeshifting, poetic and propulsive new single “Multitudes”.
Speaking of it, Sinead says: “‘Multitudes’ – the word itself was the first choice. It is not neat, it describes loose ends, open ends. Working with opposing forces and contradictions. An interrogation into the obstacles which pervade our daily lives; it’s a song about desire and creativity”.
“The album title Time Bend and Break The Bower, from this song ‘Multitudes’, came into my head and made its demands, an idea that pressed on me throughout the record. It has a very active role. The clock symbol is enlarged, it looms like a moon over my activity watching, counting me down to zero. Dripping with self sabotage and the feeling of being chased; it pulls and pushes against the verses which talk of ’Multitudes’; the things that faithfully come back – the images, the words, creativity. It is creativity itself. That’s what I’m talking about”.
The new single from Wy “Teeth” is a brilliant slice of their nostalgic indie pop, a gentle tune on which the Malmö duo of Ebba and Michel Gustafsson Ågren deliver another atmospheric experience.
The song follows up their album Marriage, released last year, and will be included in the upcoming EP Something Amazing, which is out June 17 via Rama Lama Records.
“Teeth” is described by the duo as a song about “standing helpless on the sideline when someone close to you is struggling. About feeling desperate to help when there’s nothing you can do but to be by their side and wait for it all to pass. It feels extra relevant now that we have become parents. Suddenly there’s an abundance of things we cannot control, and there’s going to be a lot more of that in the future. It’s a hard thing to accept, but you can’t protect the ones you love from everything, even if you want to”.
