[song] Activity – Department of Blood (Xiu Xiu Remix)

Fresh after the release of their latest album Spirit in the Room, Brooklyn’s Activity have dropped a new Xiu Xiu’s remix of “Department of Blood” from it.

Xiu Xiu are widely known for the unique and experimental approach to music, and their remixes are no exception. Here they infuse the original (which is already quite a haunting track) with their signature nightmarish sound, making it a 7-minute horror marathon. A brilliant piece that takes you on a journey through the darkest corners of your mind.

[album] Activity – Spirit in the Room

Appearing seemingly out of nowhere at the beginning of 2020, Brooklyn’s Activity established themselves as a really special band. Their fantastic debut Unmask Whoever became a soundtrack of the pandemic’s early stages, and somehow despite its haunting nature and eerie atmosphere, it managed to provide a certain calming effect.

Now the group is back with a new release, and already judging by its cover and title Spirit in the Room it is possible to say that they are doubling down and expanding on everything here. And a couple of listens easily confirm that Activity delivered another masterpiece — a dark and very complex record with many layers and details slowly revealing themselves. It’s an album to get lost in.

[song] Activity – White Phosphorus

Brooklyn band Activity released one of the best records of 2020 with their gloomy, moody and very addictive debut Unmask Whoever.

Now they have followed it up with a big new single “White Phosphorus”, a first song the group have recorded but decided not to put on the LP. Now it sees the light of day and is also available on streaming services.
