[song] Stats – Wet Black Trees

Stats are returning next month with one final show and one final release. The concert will happen at The Lexington, London on November 19, and on the same day they will also release the deluxe version of their brilliant last LP Powys 1999.

The extended 18-track edition of the album will feature extra songs from the recording sessions, remixes and some special rarities.

One of the tunes, “All I Wanna Do Is Please Please Please”, has already been released, and now it is time for the second preview — “Wet Black Trees”, a nice little song that was produced and sung by the group’s keyboardist Nicole Robson, setting lyrics by frontman Ed Seed.

[song] Francis Lung – Internet

Fresh off releasing his new album Miracle this June, indie pop mastermind Francis Lung returns today with a lovely new single, “Internet”. It is described by the artist as a song that tackles the addictiveness of technology and how it can be all-consuming.

[album] Francis Lung – Miracle

The third record from Tom McClung aka Francis Lung finds the musician at his most playful, personal and accomplished. There’s no fillers here — every song is just perfect.

The release has a beautiful sound with laconic piano inserts and chirping vocals; in places it recalls the pioneers of guitar pop music, like The Beatles and The Beach Boys and in places it gravitates towards contemporaries, such as William Doyle and Matt Maltese.

Melancholic and deeply personal all the way through, it will make a heart-wrenching soundtrack for the hot summer nights this year.
