[video] Amen Dunes – Boys

Amen Dunes followed up his recent hit “Purple Land” with another new cut “Boys”. Both songs are taken from his forthcoming album Death Jokes, set for release on May 10 through Sub Pop.

The single is accompanied by a cool music video directed by Steven Brahms. In it, Damon McMahon is seen sitting on a sofa watching television, as two younger men create some absolute chaos and destruction in the room around him.

La Luz – the band led by Shana Cleveland – announced their new record News of the Universe which will be out on May 24 via Sub Pop (it is their first one for the label). Along with the news they are sharing a new single/video “Strange World”.

It’s a warm, nostalgic journey through emotions and memories, encapsulated in a sound that is both retro and refreshingly modern. The song’s structure is straightforward, yet every element, from the guitar tone to the vocal harmonies, is meticulously crafted to contribute to the overall mood. La Luz have created a track with a truly timeless feel, a testament to their talent and vision as musicians.

The video was shot by Vanessa Pla and features Cleveland on a bike delivering the La Luz Observer newspaper whose headline reads “News of the Universe”.

[song] Omni – INTL Waters

On February 16, the Atlanta trio Omni will release Souvenir, their highly-anticipated new album for Sub Pop.

We have heard two brilliant songs out of it already and now the band continues their hot streak of singles with the new offering — gentle and catchy “INTL Waters”. The song is a slightly left turn for the band, sounding more mellow and adventurous in comparison to the precise guitar riffs, tight rhythms, and deadpan vocals that they are known for.

[video] Omni – Plastic Pyramid (feat. Izzy Glaudini)

After releasing “Exacto” just recently, Omni now share a new single/music video “Plastic Pyramid”, a duet featuring Izzy Glaudini of Automatic. It is taken from their upcoming album Souvenir which will be released on February 16 via Sub Pop. The band shares the following about the song:

“‘Plastic Pyramid’ was one of the first songs written for Souvenir. It took a while to figure out what arrangement worked best. We tore it apart and pasted it back together again a number of times before settling on its current form. Our friend Izzy Glaudini of Automatic graciously agreed to sing on the track, making it the very first Omni duet. We hope you like it”.

Omni have also announced headline shows in 2024 supporting Souvenir, with the band returning to the UK and Ireland for a string of dates in April.

[album] Deeper – Careful!

Deeper have returned with the new LP Careful! (first one for Sub Pop Records), which is full of their signature energetic and guitar-driven sound. But this time around Chicago-based four-piece pushed it to the limit, having created their best set of songs so far.

The formula is quite similar to what we heard before from this group, yet there are plenty of experiments, with the tracks sometimes going to unexpected places (for example, check out “Fame”).

Obviously, there have been plenty of post-punk recently, but if you’re looking for a fresh take on the genre, give this album a spin — you won’t be disappointed. Deeper are dead serious about their craft.
